Bedtime with the Boys

Bedtime is always a good time around our house.
Whenever we say it is time to get ready for bed Cade always says,
"Pj's, brushy fruity, night moon, song, prayers."
(brushy fruity b/c he has fruity toothpaste and goodnight moon is the nightly staple book he reads with Dad). As you can tell, he knows the routine. :)
He looks forward to the time, also, on the weekends when we get in our P.J.'s, make "papone" (popcorn) and "snuggle with Daddy in the blanket".
Here are a couple clips of Cade singing some of the songs he loves. Make sure you pause the music to the right and down before you watch them. :)
" I Am Like A Star"

"I Am A Child Of God"

We are sad (and happy...I guess) to announce that Jay has had his first 2 nights in his BIG, much too big for him crib, in his own big boy room. He is doing great.

In Tune

The other day, we had a big scare.

Thanks to my mother, who is very open to inspiration, she probably saved Cade's life.

My (Brynne's) parents have a pool that in the winter has just a tarp over it. Due to the recent rain it was covered in ice cold water (my Dad tries to stay on top of it because of all of the kids around). Also, Cade now knows how to unlock doors.
Well, my mom and A.J. and I were chatting while my Dad and Cade were in and out doing stuff around the house. At one point, my Dad said he was taking off, we said bye, and kept chatting. I'm sure he made sure Cade was inside when he left, but I still hadn't thought to keep track of him. We were carrying on in the conversation and I started nursing Jay when my mom suddenly stopped abruptly, cutting me off, and said,
"Where's Cade?!"
I was still kind of laid back...
"I don't know. He was with Dad... but I guess Dad left."
Then she stood up, looked out the window, then shouted,
"He is ON the POOL!"
My heart dropped. I freaked, ran over to the window with my boob hanging out to yell for him to hold still! He was hanging on to the edge of the pool, looking scared, up to his waist in the water that was quickly pooling around him. He was trying to get some balls that were on the tarp. A.J. ran outside and as soon as he saw him he started crying hard. He was scared.

My heart didn't calm down for a half hour. We had to strip him down from his freezing cold, soaked clothes and warm him up. I drilled him and drilled him to the point where he was drilling me back about not going on the pool. He would say, "Mom, Nana; No, no no, pool."
This really made me realize how QUICKLY he can get away from me and how innocent he still is. He doesn't know any better yet. He just wanted a ball.

I am SO grateful I have a mother who is so close to the still small voice. If it weren't for her, it could have been a lot worse. I love you, Mom. How did your heart hold up through 9?!

E-stairs (if pronounced by Nacho Libre)

First of all, here is Cade at the ward easter egg hunt Sat., which we were late to, so all of this candy was given to him by other kids. :( He loved it anyway (as you can see!)

The night before easter, the easter bunny hides easter baskets to find the next morning. Cade's was hidden fairly well, and he came in and woke us up with his easter basket in hand! He was so proud! We have NO IDEA how he knew to even look for a basket, let alone how out of all 4, he found his own. Way to go! I guess the easter bunny needs to hide it in a hard spot next year!
Here is our little family of easter baskets. If you notice, the only thing mommy needed was a solid milk chocolate dove bunny and she was happy. :)
Cute little chubby Jay.
On easter evening we went to Grammie and Grandpa Erickson's for a nice Ham dinner and strawberry shortcake. Grammie always makes good meals!
In our church meetings, the spirit was very strong reflecting on the last week of the Savior's life and the amazing things he did. Of course, it is always astonishing to think about his resurrection as well. We are so grateful for Him.

Stuff!

A few random things clumped together:
I have been wanting to post this for a while, but my brother A.J. is home from UT now and will soon be attending school for cosmetology. He has overcome so much and I couldn't be happier to see his long awaited ambitions beginning! It has been so nice to have him back in many different ways.
On conference weekend we got together with Gatten Family and canned MAD MEAT!
A few of us hit Cafe Chulo together after the long day's work...
(LtoR: Tyler, Angie D., Dusty, Brynne, Cade, A.J., Jon, Tim, Mikin, Noah and Asa)
But, the best part of the weekend was not more food storage, it was the BEST and MOST MIRACULOUS announcement EVER!!! My brother Dusty and his wife have a
BUN IN THE OVEN!!!
They are expecting baby no. 1 after 8 years and many hardships trying to get to this point. It is hard to describe the joy we feel and the grace of our Heavenly Father for answering our, what seemed like, endless prayers. (Not to mention only a couple months before they were scheduled to do invitro :) We couldn't be happier for them.
Next, just a funny story about Cade. Today I was nursing Jay and Cade's nose was runny from playing outside. I said "Cade, go grab me some toilet paper so I can wipe your nose." Well, he brought me this TEENY tiny piece, but I was happy he did it...
Until I found this! The WHOLE roll undone for that small piece. Silly kid.
Another funny Cade story: Jon's brother, Brandon, comes to visit periodically for work and it is tradition for him to take us to lunch (thanks B!). When he greeted Cade he asked him what his name was and proceeded to list off names he could possibly be. "Are you....Bob? Are you... Leroy? (etc.)" Until he got to the name JOE. Cades eyes lit up and he replied, "Joe!"
Now, every time we ask Cade if his name is Cade or Joe (or what his name is period) he says "Joe!" Was this a feeling we missed in the naming process? ;)

Moving on: Jay is now a proud 'disc user'. He does need a little propping (hence the pillow) but he LOVES to stand like a big boy and watch his big brother run crazy circles around him playing with the toys (which he has no interest in yet). He has had a couple giggles now and suprised me yesterday and rolled over! Sad.
Lastly, I just wanted to give a shout out to my little brother, Spike. He is doing an amazing job on his mission in Manaus, Brazil and we can't believe he only has about 6 months left!!! He is such and example and inspiration to all of us...not to mention the best looking missionary I know!
Is that enough for one post?
